La historia de este caballo es tan extraordinaria como su clase y también puede decirse que tiene un ápice de mala suerte porque se ha tenido que enfrentar repetidamente a caballos de "otras galaxias" que le han batido en grandes carreras.
Youmzain, sin embargo, tiene un record, un triste record, al ser el único caballo que ha quedado en segundo lugar en tres ocasiones en la historia de una de las carreras mas importantes del calendario mundial, me refiero al Gran Premio del Arco del Triunfo del hipódromo parisino de Longchamp. En su favor hay que decir que los que le precedieron, son caballos considerados como grandísimos campeones; estos son los datos de esas carreras :
- En 2.007 la carrera la ganó Dylan Thomas, Youmzain llegó en segunda posición y tercero fue Sagara.
Como puede verse en la fotografía de la llegada, nuestro protagonista solo fue batido por una cabeza, aunque esa carrera la pudo haber ganado Youmzain si su ataque se hubiera presentado un poco antes.
- En 2.007 la carrera la ganó Dylan Thomas, Youmzain llegó en segunda posición y tercero fue Sagara.

- En 2.008 la historia se repetiría pero esta vez fue batido por una de las mejores yeguas de la historia, nos referimos a Zarkava, segundo fue Youmzain y, en tercer lugar llegó Soldier of Fortune.
La foto está tomada pasada la meta y nos muestra la alegría de su jockey Christophe Soumillon al ganar tan importante carrera.
Este es el único vídeo que hemos encontrado sobre el Arco de 2.008; aunque es de muy baja calidad, se puede apreciar lo que hemos comentado anteriormente :
- LLegó el 2.009 y Youmzain, fiel a esa cita, también participó en la magna prueba y, ¿como no?, terminó en segundo lugar detrás de Sea the Stars.
La fotografía no deja lugar a dudas, se puede apreciar como Sea the Stars ganó cómodamente por dos cuerpos.
El vídeo de la carrera nos demuestra que, a 200 mts. de la meta, cuando Sea the Stars ya estaba en cabeza, Youmzain estaba a mas de cinco cuerpos de distancia y, a pesar de ser el caballo que mas remató, no tuvo tiempo para llegar a alcanzar al caballo que montaba Mick Kinane que ganó así su último Gran Premio.
- En la edición del Arco de Triunfo de 2.010, Youmzain, con siete años de edad, participó por cuarta vez consecutiva, en la prueba pero esta vez no pudo terminar en los puestos remunerados, ocupó la décima posición de 18 participantes. Ese día gano Workforce y Youzmain corrió muy encerrado en la cola del pelotón, entró último en la recta final y, al presentar su ataque muy tardío, solo pudo ocupar esa plaza.

Pero Youmzain tiene otros records, también se ha colocado varias veces en una de las pruebas mas prestigiosas del Reino Unido, hablamos del King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
- En 2.007 quedó en segundo lugar detrás de Dylan Thomas, el mismo que luego le batiría en el Arco de Triunfo :
- En 2.008 fue tercero, batido por Duke of Marmalade y Papal Bull. Ese día, a pesar de haber pocos participantes, su jockey se supo encerrar y, cuando se decidió a presentar su ataque, se vio claramente perjudicado por Papal Bull que cortó en seco la acción de Youmzain. Los metros finales son realmente preciosos ya que Duke of Marmalade, después de verse superado, vuelve de nuevo a base de corazón para recuperar el primer puesto que, a la postre, le situó como ganador de esa carrera.
- En 2.010 queda en tercer lugar batido por Harbinger, que gana muy cómodamente, y por Cape Blanco :
Su entrenador es el famoso Mick Channon, un antiguo jugador de fútbol del Southampton donde jugó durante 10 años y que incluso llegó a jugar en la selección de su pais.
Youmzain también ha ganado varios Grupos I, entre otras carreras, como el Preis Von Europa en 2.006 y el Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud en 2.008
Youmzain ha ganado mas de 3.400.000 libras esterlinas, 100 veces mas de lo que costó como yearling, 32.000 guinéas ( 1 guinea = 1 libra + 1 chelín).
Este año 2.011 Youmzain ha sido retirado para ejercer como semental, seguro que sus hijos heredarán el espíritu luchador y la clase de su padre.
