Famoso cuadro de George Stubbs - Famous painting by George Stubbs




La casa de subastas Christie's anunció el miércoles que pondrá a la venta una obra maestra del pintor ecuestre George Stubbsvalorada en más de 20 millones de libras (33 millones de dólares) .



El pintor del siglo XVIII era conocido por sus retratos de caballos de carreras. ''Gimcrack On Newmarket Heath, With A Trainer, A Stable-lad, And A Jockey'' muestra a uno de los caballos más exitosos y conocidos de la era.


John Stainton, director de Christie's para pinturas británicas, dijo que el retrato - de 1.8x0.9 metros - es ''uno de los mejores cuadros deportivos en la historia''.


El lienzo fue vendido por última vez por 12 mil 600 libras en 1951. Es vendido ahora por los dueños de la Colección Woolavington de arte deportivo.

Será subastado en Christie's en Londes el 5 de julio.

The auction house Christie's said Wednesday it will sell a masterpiece of the painterGeorge Stubbsvalorada horses in more than 20 million pounds (33 million).


The painter of the eighteenth century was known for his portraits of racehorses. "Gimcrack On Newmarket Heath, With A Trainer, A Stable-lad, And A Jockey" shows one of the most successful and famous horses of the era.

John Stainton, director of Christie's British paintings, said the portrait - of 1.8x0.9meters - is''one of the best sports pictures in history.''

The painting was sold recently for 12 000 600 pounds in 1951. It is now sold by theowners of the Collection Woolavington sports art.

Will be auctioned at Christie's in Londes on 5 July.
